Cycle Positive are passionate about getting more people on bikes in Bishop’s Stortford. They are making it their mission to get people of all ages back riding their bike and enjoy the pleasure of cycling. The mental and physical benefits of cycling are well documented and, Phil has a great business, together with a wealth of knowledge to match.
Building capacity for growth and change
Located in Bishop’s Stortford, Cycle Positive is a new concept born out of the desire to teach people to cycle and be able to offer the experience of trialling an E-Bike and its benefits. Their instructor, Phil, is a lifelong cyclist and sports enthusiast. He is a qualified NSI Cycling instructor, a City and Guilds Level 2 bike mechanic and a British Cycling Ride Leader. He is also DBS checked and a qualified First Aider.
Cycle Positive work with families, young children and the older generation who may have lost their confidence. Along with bike services ranging from a quick bike MOT check to their gold package.
The brief
Cycle Positive is a new start-up company who pride themselves on helping others and getting the public back on their bikes. They came to us for help with all things marketing, from more traditional print marketing such as business stationery to digital marketing and social media. We made sure they hit the ground running with the launch of their new business. We wanted to capture Phil’s energy and enthusiasm to create a timeless visual identity. That evoked feelings of motion but at the same time was attractive and welcoming to all ages and genders.
Rising to the challenge
Cycle Positive needed a variety of marketing and promotional materials to showcase their new business, ranging from promotional flyers to a new website, to a pop-up gazebo and pop-up flags when out on the high street. Throughout all the designs we made sure brand consistency was maintained across all marketing materials from the social media artwork to business cards. When starting as a new business, ensuring your branding is on point is critical, and we wanted to make sure Phil and team set off in the right direction.
We designed and built a website that is appealing to both adults and teenagers, along with producing brand guidelines to assist with the implementation of the new branding. Given the nature of their business, we identified social media as the best platform for Cycle Positive to spread their message and help them to build an online presence that would help them connect with their target market. We designed and coded an engaging website for them, that would help navigate their customers through the website. Starting with information about the company itself and finishing with them being able to make an online booking for a lesson, taster session on an E-Bike or booking a MOT for an existing bike.
The logo
With the brief in mind, we kept the logo simplistic and sleek displaying, an icon of an electric bike encased in think bubbles. The logo provokes thoughts of cycling, freedom and open space encompassing both the health and green message. The teal colour represents the outdoors and the neutral modern grey which appeals to both sexes. For the typography, we used a simple, stylish sans serif font throughout.
The website
The new website was designed around a large image slider in the header, allowing Cycle Positive to showcase large high-quality photos that feature a mix of images. Built using WordPress the website provides the client with a lot of flexibility to grow the website alongside their business. With WordPress websites, you can add new content, pages and other features as your business and services grow.
Ongoing support
Since the launch in 2019 we have continued to help and support Phil from Cycle Positive with building his brand. This has involved updating the website with new features such as a used bike marketplace and improved booking system for new services.
We have helped Phil along the way with social media support, reprints of his business cards and the design and production of new banners for his market stall.
