Get to Know: Rorie – Finance Director

Here at Simpsons Creative, we’re incredibly proud of the work we produce for our clients, but none of it would be possible without the hard work of our dedicated team. To give you an insight into what it’s like to be part of the Simpsons team, our Get to Know series will reveal more about the team and what they do and who they are.

This month, we’re getting to know Rorie, our Finance Director.

What made you stumble upon Web Development as a career?
My early career was in international banking where my role as a credit analyst led to working with a number of business accounts in a management accounting role. When I left London I continued this role for a number of local businesses until Roy Simpson, the former owner of Simpsons Creative, asked if I would like to take on the role of FD.

How does your role fit into Simpsons Creative?
As part owner of an SME, the role is fluid and all-encompassing. Anything from GDPR, HR and Brexit related VAT implications for Simpsons to buildings maintenance. The standard everyday financial and management aspects of running a business and then I help out proofreading, contribute to blogs, and general progress chaser.

The ever-changing nature of the creative brief and working with talented graphic designers and web developers who continually surprise me with their ability to bring fresh and invigorating ideas to every project.

Every day is different.

What kind of responsibilities does your job entail?
Everything finance-related and ensuring that we don’t forget to market ourselves, although much of our business is by word of mouth or recommendation we still need to keep ourselves out there and maintain a presence on the web, social media platforms and through networking. And most important that there is plenty of tea, coffee and squash in the kitchen.

Would you say you’ve grown at Simpsons Creative?
Yes, I’ve certainly grown older and wiser 🙂

Organised, reliable, problem solver.
