This month, we’re getting to know Alex, our Web Developer.
What made you stumble upon Web Development as a career?
I have always been interested in computing both hardware and software but while studying computer science at university I was introduced to PHP and really enjoyed learning how to use it, after leaving university the opportunity came up to start a career in web development meaning I could continue working with PHP but also branch out to other skill sets that I enjoyed.
How does your role fit into Simpsons Creative?
Simpsons is a full-service agency, this means we tackle a large range of projects from more traditional print jobs to websites and digital media. My role sees me assisting mainly with the website projects, helping clients to turn their ideas into functioning websites, but also lending my IT/web/digital skills to other projects to ensure everything Simpsons does is completed to the highest standards.
What do you like about working for Simpsons Creative?
We have a large range of clients in a range of different industries, so there is always something new/different to work on. Having a large base of local businesses means I get to know clients properly and enjoy seeing them making the most of their websites.
What do you like about the job specifically?
I really enjoy website development, specifically backend development, using PHP and WordPress to create websites and projects, that help clients businesses achieve a strong online presence. I enjoy working on more substantial programming challenges that help to push my skills further and improve what I can do.
What kind of responsibilities does your job entail?
Website development and maintenance as well as helping clients make the most of their website by offering advice and assisting with updates.

With a range of projects, Simpsons has continued to offer new challenges.
