We’re just 25 days into the calendar year but we’ve seen quite enough, thanks. Here at Simpson’s, we have put a list of all the podcasts we are loving at the moment, to help you escape these chaotic times.
In our ongoing effort to distract you from the wild happenings here on Planet Earth, here are some of the best podcasts to bury your ears in while you’re out on your daily walk. Again.
Chris & Rosie Ramsey
Sh**ged Married Annoyed
If you don’t mind a few odd looks out in public, this is the podcast for you because they are laugh out loud funny! Chris Ramsey is best known for his comedy but also starred on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019. Arguably we’re not sure who is funnier now. For husband a wife duo Rosie and Chris Ramsey, the only way they can have a conversation without being interrupted by a toddler is by doing a podcast. They chat all about life, relationships, arguments, annoyances, parenting, growing up and everything in between. Each week they will answer questions from the public, what’s your beef and a secret celebrity.
Sh**ged Married Annoyed, with Rosie and Chris Ramsey, is available now.
Grounded with Louis Theroux
As lockdown has hit the UK once again, Louis is using his time to track down some high-profile people he’s been yearning to talk to – from all walks of life and on both sides of the Atlantic.
In the first episode of Grounded with Louis Theroux, the documentarian kicks it off with writer and documentary-maker Jon Ronson, who is grounded in Upstate New York. Later in the series, Theroux will speak with Lenny Henry, Boy George, and Miriam Margolyes and many more that you don’t want to miss out on.

Emily Maitlis & Jon Sopel
Want to know the ins and outs of the US Presidential election? Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel set out to encourage younger people towards the news and current affairs through their latest podcast Americast.
The pair catch up across the Atlantic and share the latest drama from the race for the White House in the episodes, which will drop weekly.
Ms Maitlis said of Americast: “We’ll offer an insider’s take on what’s happening beneath the headlines. What’s more, we’ll reunite the Maitlis/Sopel BBC presenting combo in a format where we don’t have to sit next to each other and may therefore have more chance of keeping a straight face.”
BBC said resources had to be shifted towards reaching a younger, digitally-savvy audience that does not tune in to scheduled programmes.
Americast, with Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel, is available now.
Rob Beckett & Josh Widdicombe
Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe’s Lockdown Parenting Hell
If you think your parenting game during the coronavirus pandemic leaves a bit to be desired, at least you’re not this guy:
“We started potty training during lockdown and there are just faeces all over my house,” says Rob Beckett.
In their new podcast, Widdicombe and Beckett chat with another comedian-parent guest to discuss the trials of family life in lockdown. They and their guests dabble in (at times dubious) parenting hacks (Katherine Ryan, the Canadian comedian, proposes building a slide for young children by placing cardboard on a flight of stairs and giving them a pillowcase to slide down at speed in episode 1).
“If you can get through lockdown with your children and you don’t lose your cool too much—every 20 minutes is fine—then you’ve done a good job. This is a difficult enough time without thinking: I should have made banana bread!”
Lockdown Parenting Hell, with Josh Widdicombe and Rob Beckett, is available now.
How to Vaccinate the World
How can we leave out the podcast that we can all relate to? Tim Harford talks about the race to vaccinate the world against COVID-19. Harford talks about the challenges that lie ahead in 2021 and why some people are hesitant about taking a coronavirus vaccine. A great informative podcast that keeps you up to date with all the latest news.
